Every sage in recorded history will tell you that there is POWER in the ability to focus.
The Chinese philosophers said to make your mind still and then focus all your thought and energy onto your goal. They called it making your mind “one-pointed”.
Meditation is not widely practiced by Western civilization, despite its proven ability to lower blood pressure, and enhance mental capabilities. Our society is at a fever pitch and the idea of “just being” doesn’t fit well.
It is just because of the frantic pace that we need to practice meditation. We may learn to treat one another with more consideration and thoughtfulness. And, on a purely personal level, it’s a powerful means to achieve your goals.
Quieting the mind is not an easy thing to do, but it can be accomplished. First, practice being still. Focus comes later. Don’t worry if it doesn’t come easily at first, and persevere.
